It was Sandeep’s dad, (late) Mr. Mathur who initiated me into the super world of Chitra and Jagjit Singh. He had this lovely huge collection of LP records of most genres of music — our favourites: the CJ ones.

Boy (that’s what all of us friends call Sandeep) and I met at Sydenham college in ’93. I would be what we call in Marathi “padheek” at his place. Books, music and Omita Aunty’s food were a brilliant combination. Their house had this diwan by the window — the rain outside, CJ on the stereo; hours spent- simply lazing away.

Remembered all of them today as I watched the rain outside my window. Remembered the first time we heard “Kagaz ki Kashti”. The perfect murder at Eros- day 1 of college;through the rain.
