raindrops streaking
down my window
myriad patterns formed
grey the order
of the day

across the road
beyond the metro
a hill
three quarters filled
houses, a storey or two
many stories
propped on stilts

a school
a temple
a church
a mosque
all accommodated
a jigsaw puzzle

can’t see no playground
but
there are many toilets
with faces of politicians
and their names
their community outreach
symbolising the stench
their antics raise
people can curse
in peace
as they take a crap

everything draped
with tarpaulin
my city
united
bleeding
same color

from the other side
a spire atop
a new skyscraper
peeks over
to take in the sight
of the remaining quarter
it’s last few trees
sold to residents
as an ode to nature

the hill some say
is proof
of the great divide
for me
it is our city
getting stomped
turning blue
in it’s face
