tum aise kyu ho
tumhe kya farak padta hai
aur kuch kaam nahi hai kya
jo ho raha hai theek hi ho raha hai
pehle to nahi bolte the
emergency pe kyu nahi likha
kitna cynical ho gaye ho
tum badal gaye ho
sab aise hi hai
hume dictator hi sudhaar sakta hai
tumhare saath to nahi huva na
dekho metro kitni tezi se ban raha hai
tum kehna kya chahte ho
hume mat sikhao
bus tum hi siyaane ho, hum sab bewakoof hai
kya itne log galat ho sakte hai
carshed wahi banega
hum to apolitical hai
hum jaante hai woh hamare pitaji nahi
apne views kyu impose karte ho
hum nahi sunege
kuch positive bhi likho

Statements above are made everyday, by friends, relatives and people I vaguely know. Strangely, for some reason the majority is vociferous, irritated, stung by the way things are panning out. Usual tactic is to move out of debates once their whatsapp fed arguments run out. The one consistent trend is their refusal to acknowledge a mistake made. To all of them, I have the following to say.

travelling in a super dense crush load,
should one write about the stink,
of the creek at bandra,
or the sweet smell of biscuits,
as we cross good old parla.

should one pay homage to the towers,
empty as the promises made,
should we remain blinded
by the dazzling lies
spouted in weekly conferences.

should we stand and ask,
sirs, you have no clothes
or should we still with spines supine,
watch the robed ones,
ignore fellow men and hear the divine.

should we celebrate the birthday of,
a great soul who walked our land,
uniter of people, no sword in hand,
or should we sing hosannas to his murderer,
add a ji to his moniker.
