they look down from the billboard,
shining metro in tow,
promising a better future,
asking us to sacrifice,
our already pothole ridden present.

some years back,
the same beaming faces with pride,
assured a smoother ride,
a brighter future they cried.

that future, now our present,
the ink on our fingers,
washed away and forgotten,
our hopes dashed,
now in sweet surrender,
our votes lie submerged,
in the crater at Milind Nagar.
