So an epic journey culminates at the memorial of the person responsible for giving us, our constitution; that most sacred of documents. It is just fitting, as that document is in grave danger of being taken apart by a vicious duo and their minions. History has always seen dark phases, each seeming darker than the earlier one — but then it’s also true that darkness is temporary — that light always triumphs. What sustains us in this phase is the belief that anything good in this world is worth fighting for.

Hope, I have always maintained is a great salve to get heal the wounds of oppression. What the Bharat Jodo Yatra has done is rekindle that hope; that all is not lost, that the righteous are still in the fight, determined to the end.

We must give credit to Rahul Gandhi for finding the strength to demonstrate what is possible if we find true purpose. To brave the most vicious of personal attacks, to stand up when all seems lost, to continuously remind us of what we could be, takes some doing. This epic journey will be remembered forever as one which inspired us all to reclaim our country. What we do from here till June 2024 will be equally crucial. We have the momentum, let us no squander it. I urge everyone reading this to contribute, no matter the scale. Lets take it upon ourselves to do what we can e.g. — print brochures of the Nyay Guarantees and distribute them in neighbourhoods, spread them via Whatsapp or other social media; no matter how small the contribution, please go ahead.

An avalanche starts as a small ball of snow. And another thing, this is not the time for seeking praise or recognition. We must carry on with the thought that any unpraised deed does not make it less valiant (LOTR). It will take all of us to play our part in what way we can. We will be tested, the side opposite will not give up easily. They will come up with something bizarre each time. Let them. We have to walk on with an increasingly audacious belief in our abilities and in our beliefs. This election is an existential one.

The dates for the elections have been announced, clearly to suit the needs of those in power; all on expected lines, their playbook now hackneyed. In the words of Gandalf the Grey “The board is set, the pieces are moving. We come to it at last, the great battle of our time.” No backing down now. No giving up now.

Keep walking. Onward together. Let’s celebrate in June 24.
